Sand Casting
Sand casting is the most popular casting process employed in industry. Sand casting molds use silica based sands. There are two general types of sand: naturally bonded and synthetic sands. that can be controlled better synthetic sand and, is the most common used by foundries.

Investment Casting
is also known as the lost wax process. This process is one of the oldest manufacturing processes. The Egyptians used it in the time of the Pharaohs to make gold jewelry (hence the name Investment) some 5,000 years ago. Intricate shapes can be made with high accuracy. In addition, metals that are hard to machine or fabricate are good candidates for this process. It can be used to make parts that cannot be produced by normal manufacturing techniques, such as turbine blades that have complex shapes, or airplane parts that have to withstand high temperatures.

Gravity Die Casting
is permanent mould casting process, where the molten metal is poured from a vessle of ladle into the mould, and the cavity fills with no force other than gravity, in a similar manner to the production of sand castings, although filling can be controlled by tilting the die.
The advantages over sand castings include better surface finish, and better mechanical properties, which occur due to relatively fasted cooling rates that occur in die casting.
